About this project

This is my submission for the March 2023 #dataDNA dataset challenge.

Context: The iPhone XR was released in september 2018 and became the best selling iPhone model for 2019, were Apple shipped 46.3 million iPhone XR units during 2019 (Miller, 2020). Specially, in India where Indian iPhone shipments grew 41% year-on-year in 2019 driven by multiple price cuts on iPhone XR throughout the year. Making Apple iPhone XR the number one ultra-premium smartphone model in India followed by Samsung’s Galaxy S10 Plus and OnePlus 7 Pro (Lovejoy, 2020).As part of Data DNA Challenge the objective of the project is to be able to answer the question: "Are customers generally satisfied or dissatisfied with Apple’s iPhone?".The dataset contain more than 4k amazon reviews of the iPhone XR in India from October 2018 to April 2020, providing a comprehensive view of what customers are saying about this popular smartphone. Approach: For starters, 3 new columns were created in the original table, the first 2 were buckets for the rating and comments columns, this was created for a smother visualization. Then a segmentation column for comments was created, to be able to have "comment" or "not comment" (used in the Information page). As for DAX measures, several were to sum distinct variables such as helpful count, coments, or to give the avereage reviews per day. Plus, for the last page, 2 measure displaying the percentage of reviews per weekday and month were created.

Also for the Time page, 2 new tables were created based on Apple releases and important Deals days in India. This table were displayed for information purpuses. Research for facts in the Time page:

As for the structure, the dashboard is a 4-page report inspired as a mix of Amazon dark theme and Apple Store page. With this dashboard, the users can easily explore and visualize the trends and insights hidden in the data. Some of the features of the dashboard include: Satisfaction analysis: show the satisfaction of the customers varying from not satisfied to very satisfied, Review filter: filter the review by earliest or latest date, more helpful or more commented and, Reviews trend: if there any sales event that increase the iPhone XR sales and with that the reviews?

Analysis: Helpful count refers to the number of people that found the review helpful. Out of the more than 4K reviews, 14,606 persons found them helpful. The most helpful review represents 34.83% of the total helpful count.Regarding comments, among all review links, only 47 have comments; out of those, 45 have less than 7 comments, 1 has 14 and one has 24. Which means that 98% of the reviews does not have any comment. As for customer satisfaction, a high customer satisfaction rate is evident from all the reviews, with 86.82% expressing very high satisfaction (4 stars or more) and less than 10% expressing dissatisfaction (1 or 2 stars).According to Power Reviews, aproximately 8% write a review the same day they received the product and 77% write it within a weeek. However the saled and received date are not included in the dataset. As seen in the Time page, the distribution of reviews per day seem constant throughout the week. While October and November seems to be the months with highest review peaks. Which can be caused by Grand Indian Festival and Amazon Diwali Sale.

Results: Overall, 86.82% of the customers are satisfied with the product, having an average of 4.4 out of 5 stars review. Knowing that 77% of the reviews are done within the week of receiving the purchase, about 30% of the reviews are written on weekends, with an average of 8 reviews per day. Also, as an interesting fact, only 1.15% of the reviews have comments.
