Return-to-work orders could push our workers away

About this project

My submission for Data In Motion, LLC's monthly data visualization challenge. The dataset came from https://www.stevenshoemaker.me/datasets/starter and contained data on over 4000 employees, including their demographic information, job details, salary information, and more.

I originally went into the project wanting to explore the relationship between education level and salary expectations in the company. As I explored the data however, I decided to instead talk about a recent increase in voluntary terminations since the end of 2019. There was no context provided about the company that this dataset comes from (it's a simulated one), so I made up my own context about the company considering return-to-office orders.

In light of the amount of voluntary terminations due to employees leaving for "greener patches," I make my recommendation of re-assessing the need for return-to-office orders. Removing flexibility and incentive as opposed to increasing it during a time when employees leave because of already perceived lack of flexibility and incentive could further exacerbate the trend. Finally, I recommended further compiling and investigating data such as benefits and compensation so that we can have more pieces of the story in order to not just slow turnover but also become more competitive and increase growth rate.
